How to Set Up Auto-Payments in Dubsado

I’m always looking for ways to make things easier, not just for me, but for my clients as well. One of my main focuses as a small business owner has been making it really easy to get paid. Dubsado* has several different features to help keep clients moving, but its auto-payment feature is king. If you want your clients to pay you autopilot, I’m going to show you how here.

Different Names for Auto-Payments

Before we get started, it’s worth pointing out that you might call getting paid on autopilot any of the following names:

  • Auto-deductions

  • Auto-payments

  • Subscriptions

Whatever you call it is perfectly fine. They all mean the same thing for the purpose of this tutorial.

About the Amount You Charge Each Time

It’s also worth pointing out that auto-payments in Dubsado* need to be approved by the client. This means that they only withdraw a specific amount of money the client has approved.

What do this mean exactly?

It means that if a client approves getting charged $500 per month, you cannot charge their credit card $600 if you provide extra services at some point in the future.

You can still automatically pull $500, but you’d need to invoice the extra $100 separately and they’d need to pay it manually.
