What is a public proposal? And is it for you? That's what we're talking about in today's video.

Welcome back to the Productive Co. YouTube channel. My name is Rae, and I'm here to help you master all things Dubsado,* so that you can improve your efficiency, wow your clients, increase your profits, and run a service-based business more smoothly.

Dubasdo* has a feature called public proposals. How is it different than a non-public proposal? How do you use it? What is it? And do you even need it? Let's switch over to my screen so I can answer all your questions.

The Difference Between Proposals and “Public” Proposals

The difference between a proposal and a public proposal in Dubsado* is that public proposals go on your website.

Where regular proposals aren't shared publicly. This is an opportunity for you to create a shop-like feature on your site, where a client can choose the services or packages that they're interested in. And you also have the option to attach a contract and an invoice so they can get three steps done all in one go.

Required Fields on Public Proposals

In order to create a public proposal, there are a few things you need to know. Once you head into the interface, you'll go under the templates tab, and then in the form section. Once inside, you'll look to find proposal and then click the plus icon to create a new proposal.

In order for you to be able to share the proposal on your website, you need to ask a couple of questions. You need to take the short answer field and add that to your form. Once you open it up, you need to ask for the client's first name, last name, and email address. And you need to make sure that all of those questions are required.

And then where it says maps to you're going to scroll down and under the client section, you're going to either attach client first name, client last name, or client email address. You need to have all three of those required and mapped in order to create a public proposal.

How to Add the Public Proposal to Your Website

So what happens is when a client fills out this information on your website, a new project is going to be created in Dubsado* when they complete it.

The second thing you want to do is go into the settings tab. This is where you can choose to attach a contract or an invoice. You can also just go through all of the other questions here and choose your favorite settings.

You need to scroll down to the bottom and there will be a question that says “create new project.” When this proposal is completed, you need to select yes, once you're done with that, you can scroll up and hit save, and then you'll be able to share the public proposal on your site, either through a direct link or by embedding the code onto a page of your site.
